Visit Oregon’s Wine Country

A Guide to the Willamette Valley

EAT, DRINK & BE LOCAL

Our central location and local attractions make us one of the best places to stay in Willamette Valley wine country. The Willamette Valley has become one of the nation’s top wine producing regions due to the mild, coastal climate and nutrient-rich soil. With more than 300 wineries in the area, the region has established itself as one of the most premier locations for producing Pinot Noir. The first grapes were planted in the mid-1960s by Eyrie Vineyard. As time progressed, more and more wine-makers settled in the valley.

The success of Oregon’s wine country has generated a new wave of tourism in the area. Everyone wants to find out what the buzz is all about! Not only is The Vintages Trailer Resort smack dab in the middle of Willamette Valley wine country, but you’ll also find family-friendly museums, a water park, and award-winning restaurants nearby.

Culinary Musts

A warm, inviting, and genuine friendly atmosphere is what you’ll find strolling downtown McMinnville and the surrounding towns like Dayton, Dundee, and Newberg. You'll get a nostalgic feeling walking below majestic maple trees and enjoying farm-to-table restaurants.

A rustic winemaker hangout, Red Hills Market aims to provide some of the best local goodness with breakfast, sandwiches, and wood fired pizza. Start your day right with Loam or stop by Trellis for a classic dish in a casual space.

For those looking to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal, you can't go wrong with Bistro Maison or Tina's.

Get Outside

Get outside and experience our beloved valley during your Oregon wine country visit.

Miller Woods, located just outside of McMinnville, is a great choice for those looking for a gorgeous 4 mile hike with an array of ecosystems ranging from hayfield and oak savannah to timber stands. Looking for something slightly shorter? Take it down a notch with Harvey Creek Trail, a 1.6 mile loop hike that is shady and full of pioneer history and provides beautiful views at the top. You can take this slow and enjoy it with your family, or speed it up for a warm up before a day of wine tasting.

Visiting in May? Spend the day at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, wandering and snapping pictures throughout their colorful tulip fields. This is a one-stop-shop farm where you can spend some time exploring their Tulip Market, Wooden Shoe Gardens, and last but not least - their Wooden Shoe Vineyards Tasting Room!

Family Friendly

Have fun experiencing the area with your family and with a museum tour, lunch downtown, or an interactive shopping day!

Venture to Third Street in McMinnville and explore Hopscotch Toys. Inside, kids will love the chance to play dress up or host a puppet show.

Even if no one is a history buff, the entire family will be dazzled by the amazing collection of planes and rockets — not to mention antique cars and other collectibles — at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum.

Right next door is the Wings & Waves Water Park that gives winter-weary Oregonians the chance to swim even while the weather is still grey. This water park is a must-visit with the family!
